Temperature Scales Explained
Celsius (°C) — The international standard used in most countries. Water freezes at 0°C and boils at 100°C at sea level. Named after Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius.
Fahrenheit (°F) — Primarily used in the United States. Water freezes at 32°F and boils at 212°F. Human body temperature is 98.6°F (37°C). A quick mental approximation: subtract 32, then halve the result to get a rough Celsius value.
Kelvin (K) — The SI unit of thermodynamic temperature, used in science and engineering. 0 K (absolute zero, −273.15°C) is the lowest theoretically possible temperature. Kelvin uses the same degree size as Celsius but starts from absolute zero, so there are no negative Kelvin temperatures.

Frequently Asked Questions
Multiply by 9/5 then add 32. For example: 100°C × 9/5 + 32 = 212°F. Quick mental trick: double the Celsius, subtract 10%, then add 32.
